Open a task
Who this is for: Anyone who needs to see or edit a specific task
Time to complete: 10 seconds
Every task in CLX opens in the same drawer — whether you got there from the Tasks page, the home page’s Your Tasks panel, or from a workflow step. The drawer is where you edit, assign, complete, and archive.
Steps
1. Click a row in the tasks grid
From the Tasks list, click anywhere on a task row.

2. The task drawer opens
The Task #N drawer slides in from the right.
The task drawer open in edit mode
You’ll see:
Task number in the top-left (e.g., Task #659) — click-to-copy if you need to reference it
Status badges under the title — Archive, Completion Notes Required, Approval Group ID
Task Type and Parent Record Type dropdowns at the top of the form
Record Type — the specific parent record this task belongs to (e.g., a contract)
Assigned To and Assigned By sections with users, roles, and departments
Organization Ownership and Due Date
Status and, for approval tasks, Approval Status and Decision Choice
Notes — free text about the task
3. Read-only vs. editable
If you don’t have edit permission, the fields are grayed out. You can still see everything, but the Save button won’t be enabled. The Complete and Archive buttons at the top respect their own permissions — you may have one and not the other.
4. Close the drawer
Click Cancel in the bottom-left, the X in the top-right, or press Escape. Unsaved changes are discarded without confirmation, so save first if you made edits.
Tips
The drawer shows the task’s entire history and current state — there’s no separate detail page. Everything happens here.
If the task is an approval task, the Task Type dropdown is disabled in edit mode because approvals can’t be re-typed once created.
The status badge at the top of the drawer (Archive, Completion Notes Required, Approval Group) is a quick visual cue for what flavor of task this is.
For tasks tied to a contract, the Record Type field links back to the source record — great for jumping to the parent contract in a new window.
