How to add a contract via AI upload

Add a contract via AI upload

Who this is for: Anyone creating a contract record from an existing document (PDF, Word, or image)

Time to complete: 2–5 minutes, including AI extraction time

This is the most efficient way to get a Completed (Executed) Document into CLX, utilizing AI Data Extraction. You upload the file, CLX extracts the key fields with AI, and you review the results before saving.

Steps

1. Open the Add Contract wizard

From the Contracts list, click + New Contract in the top right. The wizard opens with two options.

2. Pick “Upload Existing Contract”

Click the Upload Existing Contract card. It turns blue and the Continue button in the bottom-right becomes active.

3. Click Continue to open the upload step

Click Continue. The wizard advances to the upload step.

4. Add your document

Drop the file into the dashed zone or click click to browse to pick it from your computer. CLX accepts PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, PNG, and TIFF files up to 10 MB each.

5. Start extraction

Once a file is selected, the Start Extraction button in the bottom right becomes active. Click it and CLX will:

  • Check whether this document is a duplicate of anything already in the system (and warn you if so)

  • Kick off AI extraction to pull out the contract type, counterparty, dates, amount, and any other fields defined for this document type

  • Route you to the extraction review step to confirm or correct the extracted values

Tips

  • The 10 MB size cap is per file. If your scan is larger, compress it or re-export at a lower resolution.

  • If CLX finds duplicates, you’ll see a list of potential matches before extraction runs. You can still proceed, but this is your chance to catch accidental re-uploads.

  • Extraction accuracy depends on document quality. Clean digital PDFs extract best; scanned images with handwriting are hardest.

  • You can always correct the extracted fields in the review step — nothing AI fills in is final until you save.
