Add a contract manually
Who this is for: Contract administrators creating a new record without an existing document to upload
Time to complete: 1–3 minutes, depending on how many fields your contract type has
If you have the key details for a contract but no document yet — or you’re entering a contract that originated outside of CLX — use the manual path. You’ll pick a contract type and fill out a form.
Steps
1. Open the Add Contract wizard
From the Contracts list, click + New Contract in the top right. A wizard slides out on the right with two choices.

2. Pick “Create Manually”
Click the Create Manually card. It turns blue to show it’s selected, and the Create Contract button in the bottom-right becomes active.

3. Click Create Contract
Click Create Contract in the bottom-right of the wizard. The wizard closes and the Add New Contract form drawer opens in its place.

4. Fill out the form
Start by choosing the Contract Type at the top. CLX uses the type to decide which fields appear on the form. Different contract types (NDA, MSA, SOW, etc.) have different required fields, dropdowns, and defaults.
As you fill in required fields (marked with a red asterisk), the Create Contract button at the bottom becomes enabled.
5. Save or cancel
Create Contract — saves the new record and takes you to its detail page.
Cancel (or the X in the top-right) — closes the drawer without saving.
Tips
You can leave any optional field blank and add it later from the contract’s edit drawer.
If you started on the wrong type, change the Contract Type dropdown — CLX keeps the values you’ve already entered for fields that exist on both types.
If you realize mid-form that you actually have the document, cancel out and start over with Upload Existing Contract instead. That path auto-fills many of these fields from the document.
